Our History
Benchmark Civil Engineering Services, Inc. was founded in 1994 by Peter Terry to provide personal, professional civil engineering and survey services to the local Lehigh Valley/Eastern Pennsylvania Region. The firm originally offered services in land development, traffic and transportation design, topographic survey, construction stakeout, and boundary survey. As the staff has grown and developed, municipal and expert witness services were added, while the traffic and highway services became a particular strength of the firm. We are learners and teachers who never stop exploring the latest methods, technologies, and policies. Benchmark staff is involved in numerous professional societies including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Transportation Research Board, Institute of Transportation Engineers and Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors. Several on our staff have gone on to obtain advanced degrees in civil engineering & surveying.

We strive to understand the regulations and requirements so that we can get approvals for our clients efficiently and cost effectively. We strive to remain updated on pending litigation and often find out the new requirements before they are officially published.

Involvement
Benchmark’s staff is committed to both their profession and the community. Benchmark is actively involved with the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce on several committees and regularly attends their events. Our staff is also involved with our professional societies, the Boy Scouts of America, the Lehigh Valley Pediatric Cancer Foundation, our church congregations, and the Lehigh County Community College.
